During a Grade 6  Math class we were giving real life connections to do with rates.  The students had been asked to research the annual salaries of an average person in Canada and one other country.  Students came back with their information and one of them had used France, but could only get the information in Euros.  Asking how we could change that into Canadian dollars, somebody mentioned exchange rates of different currencies.  I grabbed my playbook and asked a student, who is often disengaged, to find the current currency exchange rate of Euros to Canadian dollars.  Within two minutes, they had found it and was able to inform the students of the difference.  We all calculated it into Canadian dollars.   The versatility of PlayBooks made this possible.  It helped someone be an integral part of the discussion.
