Students at Park Manor are using Khan Academy (https://www.khanacademy.org/) in most of their math classes to help fill in prior learning gaps with respect to numeracy skills and practice them to gain mastery.  Students are encouraged to log in at home or during breaks in the computer lab to watch instructional videos and practice key skills as defined by their teacher or learn on their own.  The students can then come to class with a better understanding of a concept and gain more from the lesson.  Quite often students can practice these lower order math skills at home and be better able to engage in the higher order thinking required to answer challenging math problems.  As well, teachers and parents can be “Coaches” for their students and easily track their progress.  We will share more exciting stories soon.
