We are excited to welcome all our new and returning students to Park Manor for an exciting year!  The staff have been working hard to prepare for this year and we can’t wait to meet our new students and reconnect with our returning students.  We are nearing completion of a 9 classroom renovation and are proud to show off our upgraded facility!

All students will begin full time on Tuesday, September 6th.

At this time, we are unable to share classroom or teacher assignments via School-Day. This is how you may have accessed this information in previous school years.

School starts at 8:30am.  Students are encouraged to arrive early – 8:20am

First Day of School:  Instructions for Students/Parents

  • When students arrive, they are to head to the back of the school to the rear tarmac
  • Homeroom teachers will be waiting in their designated area with their homeroom class sign displayed
  • Staff will be outside ready to greet students and direct them to their homeroom
  • Students can approach staff and give them their name – staff will inform them of their homeroom class and direct them to their designated area
  • Once students are given their homeroom class, they proceed to their designated area and check-in with their homeroom teacher
  • Homeroom teachers will communicate with parents as soon as our systems are operational

** Parents – please do not use the parking lot to drop off your child.  We do not have enough space to permit this and it creates a safety issue.

Please understand that class placements are final. Please do not call the school to have your child moved.

Park Manor Staff devote considerable time working together with our feeder schools to create optimal classes.  Some students may feel disappointed on the first day if they are not with their closest friends but we always find that after a few days, they are happy.  Additionally, students are able to connect with their friends during Nutrition Breaks.

What Should Students Bring?

  • Students should bring writing utensils and a binder with lined paper.  We provide supplies to any student that needs them.
  • Students should bring running shoes as we have spirit activities planned for the first day and week.  Students will need running shoes for Phys-Ed every day.
  • Masks are optional.  We will provide masks upon request.
  • If students have symptoms, please keep them home.
  • Approved WRDSB hand sanitizer will be accessible for all students
  • Students should bring a healthy lunch and water bottle.  Students must stay at school during Nutrition Breaks.
  • Lockers – each student will be issued a locker.  Students can bring a combination lock or purchase one from the school for $5

Cell Phones:

  • Cell phones are not permitted during the school day.
  • Students can bring cell phones to school but they must stay in their lockers from 8:30-2:50.  Cell phones are not permitted during Nutrition Breaks
  • If you need to contact your child, please call the school.  If you contact your child on their phone, you are placing them in a difficult situation to break school rules and it creates confusion with office staff when parents/students make arrangements that we don’t know about.
  • Students can always come to the office if they need to contact you.

We are hopeful that School Day will be operational soon.  In the meantime, teachers will communicate via Google Classroom and I will post updates to the school website.  Thank you for your patience and understanding was we work through the challenges of opening the school.

I look forward to another great school year!

Regards,

Andy Lavell
