From Kindergarten until now … the fall of Grade 8 seems to have passed in a blink of the eye.  And yes, it is time to start talking about lies ahead.  Start with conversations about how your child likes to learn.  Are they independent learners and enjoy reading and writing tasks?  Are they more hands on and understand things by doing them?  Do they have apprenticeship goals in mind or do they want to go on to post secondary?  Do they have no idea?  Many students, and even some of us parents still wonder what they want to do when they grow up.  That is okay.  Help guide your child to do the compulsory courses they need to do and select the elective courses that are of the greatest personal interest.

To help get the conversation started, High School information nights are just around the bend.  Book it into your calendars now.

EDSS’ information night is November 23, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

Cameron SS (that offers the IB program), has an information night on November 29, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

KCI information night is Nov. 30, 2016 at 7:00 (They run the Fast Forward program and French Immersion Program).

On November 2nd all of our Grade 8s will have the opportunity to go to EDSS.  If your child will be attending a different school in the fall, please contact Ms. Jespersen for options on that day as well.
